Back in February the GSM association and several handset manufacturers started discussions into a unified charger solution for mobile phones. Yesterday the decision was finalised, with 10 companies representing 90% of the European mobile market agreeing on the new micro-USB format.
The companies involved are Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Apple, LG, NEC, Qualcomm, Research in Motion, Samsung and Texas Instruments, but we've not heard of an agreement from the likes of HTC, who currently use miniUSB sockets on their phones.
