The SPV2 ? You know, the one with the camera in the back ? So it’s called the SPV E200 on Orange now.. errr… isn’t it ? Well, no. Andy Maxfield has emailed me about his recent visit to the Orange Shop. He says…
“I walked in to my local phone shop and asked the guy if they had any news from Orange on release dates for the E200 and he did not know what I was talking about. However, he DID know about the SPV C200 that was coming soon. He even gave me the Orange Autumn 2003 brochure with the phone in…”
Andy scanned the relevant page and you can see it in this first-look picture from the brochure.
The brochure lists the in-built camera, Bluetooth and Smartphone 2003 Software but the picture is still a SPV E100. Also, the brochure says that you can “Download Games and Applications using Java Technology” .. can you ? Really? HURRA!
Confused? Well, yes. We presume that if this ISN’T a printing error then they’ve called it the C200 because it has a camera (C = Camera) and maybe they’re gonna stick with that. The “E” in the “E100”, we believe, stands for “Enhanced”.
Is it a fake ? A mistake ? An early code-name ? Well, we’re not sure.. we’ve had a couple more emails saying that the “C200” name is correct! The only way to know for sure is to wait and see.
