Orange have officially announced the addition of the SPV C500 in this press release at Orange.com. The SPV C500 will form part of the Orange Signature range, which is growing fast. Orange also announce that more than 20 new Signature phones later this year – sure, not all will be Windows Mobile powered – but it’s a definite boost.
The man from Orange, Martin Keogh (Vice President of Global Product Management), said about the SPV C500…
“Our customers told us that they loved the functionality of previous SPV phones – the familiarity of their desktop PC, simple Internet access, Outlook on the move – but they wanted a smaller form factor. So we’ve worked with our partners to maintain that experience, but shrink the components inside. However, despite its smaller form-factor, we haven’t compromised on performance. In fact, we’ve enhanced the performance over previous SPVs, offering a new homescreen, video content and messaging reminders.”
For some reason he forgot to mention CoolSmartPhone.com though.. 🙂
The SPV C500 weighs just 100 grams and, with its compact 108mm x 46mm x 16mm frame, is the world’s smallest Smartphone, but still allows for a 65k colour screen and an easy to use versatile keypad. The phone is due to be launched by Orange in seven European countries – the UK, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, and Slovakia – starting in the summer. Pricing details will be available upon launch, however it’s expected to be quick affordable. With Orange announcing yet another Windows Mobile Smartphone, it’s about time Vodaphone UK, o2 UK and the other networks did too! 🙂 Source and additional info – Orange.com Mega hi-quality picture click Click “Read more” for specifications and more photos or get the FULL C500 specs sheet here (login first). My reaction? By gum it’s small ain’t it ? Natty little thing 🙂 I must admit that this does look good. The joypad is completely different to the other Windows Mobile handsets we’ve seen plus the in-built camera and size will appeal to teenagers and business-people alike. Windows Mobile 2003 SE plus the large internal memory should – along with its’ inbuilt Bluetooth and added profiles – make this a very successful handset.
