I really must start reading my emails more often because Antal van Wijk from NewMobile.nl gave me a snippet of info about this Silicon-i i800 handset last Wednesday!
This tri-band phone comes with a 1.3 Mega pixel camera, MiniSD card slot, 176×220 pixel screen and Windows Mobile 2003SE. You can get full information and details here. But .. wait.. wait a minute.. doesn’t it look A LOT like the Motorola MPx100 ? Hmmm… I think it is! The suggestion seems to be that this phone is indeed the former Motorola MPx100! It’s alive!!! In fact, the story goes that when Motorola abandoned the MPx100, the Taiwanese company producing the reference design (Win II, who Silicon-i have jointly developed this phone with) have gone onto produce the phone anyway! Check this ealier Engadget post – look, it’s the Win II S747!
The phone is a bit taller than the newer Smartphones from HTC. Take a look at the pictures below (click read more if you need to), it matches with the former Motorola MPx100.
Mass-market availability is set to be September this year. This is the first in a new range. There’s an EDGE-compatible handset planned for the end of 2005 and a multimode (GSM/EDGE/UMTS) ready for Q2 2006!!
