Right, I’m going to confuse myself now. Here in Europe we’re now on Daylight Savings Time, so all our clocks have gone forwards. However, in the USA their clocks haven’t changed yet – that happens on April 2nd at 2am. So, if I’ve got this right, New York for example is currently 6 hours behind us here in the UK, instead of the usual 5 hours behind. San Diego, California, where the CoolSmartPhone server lives, is currently 9 hours behind.
Why am I mentioning all this? Well on Monday we’ll be off-line for around 15 minutes between 0.15 and 0.45 PST, which – because the clocks in the USA will have gone forward by then – is 8 hours behind us here in the UK and 9 hours behind most of the rest of Europe. If you notice us off-line between 8.15-8.45 BST then this’ll be why. The guys who own the data centre and network for us say that this is for a “preventative network maintenance window”.
A bit of maintenance
