A lot of people downloaded Google Mobile Maps recently after the new “GPS-less” location system was introduced. It works by grabbing information from local transmitters to get your location but many Orange users just couldn’t make it work.
The fix, found by Jason Langridge and his team, is to de-activate the Orange security policy. Long-time owners of Orange SPV’s will be well-aware of the whole application-locking problems, but lately they’ve not been such a problem. The Google Maps application needs to get cell infomation, so heading over to spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com should do the trick.
