The guys at WMExperts have got their hands on a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 during an interview with Martin Winkler, Director of Global Marketing for Sony Ericsson. The curvy handset scores well on build quality and design, plus the 800×480 screen is bright and clear. Inside the handset the specs are also excellent – Qualcomm MSM7200A CPU running at 528Mhz, quad-band HSDPA/HSUPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD slot and aGPS too.
The Sony Ericsson “Panels” interface seeks to add further customisation to your handset and include perhaps more hidden functions into one easy-to-use screen. It’ll replace the rather unloved (at least by Microsoft) “Today” screen. New panels are downloadable, with a Google search page, clock, appointments, weather and even a mini aquarium being available currently. The interview, which again discusses the fact that HTC are the guys building this handset, seems to suggest a US launch first.
