I stumbled across an Orange advert for their data dongles in one of Emilys’ gossip magazines last night (it blew open – I swear). Quadband, 7.2Mbps speeds with unlimited data. Yes, unlimited-ish. It’s actually a “fair usage” cap of 1Gb.
According to our sources Orange are about to push their “Internet Everywhere” plans further by including the Asus Eee PC 900 laptop into their plans. From August you’ll be able to get the Asus Eee PC 900 16G laptop and USB data dongle for just £25 per month on a 24 month contract. Included in this is 3Gb of data and 100 texts per month which you can send from the laptop.
Emails that we’ve received from our contacts state..
The Asus Eee PC 900 16G laptop gives the ultimate portable experience with a 8.9″ compact design and 0.99kg weight, so customers can walk out of Orange shops and connect to the Internet. Orange plan to build on this offer to include fixed line broadband and an increased laptop range in one price.
Francois Mahieu, Devices Director, Orange UK said: “We’re committed to delivering quality, service and innovation for customers, so we’re really pleased to be launching a connected laptop offer with Asus. Over time we will be looking to expand our offering even further with more suppliers who are at the forefront of laptop technology, making it even easier for our customers to connect to the Internet seamlessly, whether it is for work or play.”
Update – Looks like it’s confirmed, other news networks are starting to report on it this afternoon (silicon.com – vnunet.com). It looks like Orange are already doing a similar deal in Switzerland, as we-u.com reports with this advert.
