A while back I had a good old rant about the cost of calling 0800 numbers from a mobile phone. 0800 numbers are free from normal landline phones, but the mobile operators have chosen to add a charge just for handling the call. I was charged £1.18 for a 10 minute call to an 0800 number, but now there’s a way out.
0800 Buster issues you a number when browsing to the site – note it down and then dial the “01” or “02” number on your mobile. When you get through just enter the 0800, 0808 or 0500 number and press the “#” key to connect. Job done. There’s no registration or set-up and the number you dial will be included in your inclusive minutes, meaning that it shouldn’t cost you any extra for calling it.
