Strangely announced just after the Mobile World Congress is this new trackball-packing Asus P835 touch-screen device. The P835 will double as a WiFi hotspot – sharing the high-speed (up to HSPA) mobile data connection over WiFi with up to 10 devices such as laptops or other WiFi-capable phones. Running Windows Mobile 6.1 on a Qualcomm 528Mhz CPU it’s also got a 3.5″ WVGA 800×480 screen, Bluetooth 2.0, 4GB of internal storage plus a microSD card for additional storage. GPS is also on board, as is a 5 megapixel camera, the Opera browser, YouTube software, Flickr access, plus an array of Asus apps including EziMusic, EziPhoto and an RSS reader to name just a few.
This new Asus handset also has a virtual keyboard which lets users switch between 12-key, half-Qwerty and full-Qwerty virtual keyboard modes.
No news on pricing or availability just yet, but this looks like one very well equipped handset.
