Just a few weeks ago we ran a story detailing how a Microsoft App Store could’ve been built years ago. All it required was a web portal of some description or a web page with a link from the main programs menu. Now, if you browse to client.marketplace.windowsmobile.com, you’ll see a mobile-formatted site that could be just that.
It’s not known if Windows Marketplace is just a web page or this is just a “Coming Soon” page for a client download. If it is “just” a web page this is a bitter pill to swallow, especially when it’s already been done by pocketgear.com and others, also the fact that a web page could have been created many moons ago by Microsoft fairly easily.
However, there’s a few too many “ifs”, “buts” and “maybes” for us just yet, so we’ll keep an eye on this one.
