We’re hearing that the HTC Touch 3G will be out this week on Orange. This sleek phone is already available unlocked from devicewire.com but Orange will be adding UMA fun into the mix.
What? UMA? Surely everyone knows what that is, right? Err… Well, it’s the techy term for being able to seamlessly roam and handover between your WiFi and the GSM network. It’s supported by Orange Broadband (of course) although it’s a little hit-and-miss with other ISP’s. Named “Orange Unique” it lets users make cheap or free calls to other Orange and landline users whilst on WiFi. This encourages people to use Orange Broadband and make more calls on their Orange mobile instead of giving money to landline phone providers.
The Touch 3G isn’t showing on the Orange website just yet, but do let us know if you see it in your local Orange shop. It has a 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR + A2DP, QVFA screen and runs a Qualcomm MSM7225 CPU at 528Mhz. There’s also GPS, the HTC TouchFLO intergace, microSD card and Windows Mobile 6.1 under the hood. You can read our full review of the unlocked version on the link below.
