The Samsung Galaxy should, in theory, be appearing sometime this month on o2. It’s an Android powered device with quad-band GSM, tri-band 3G, a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera plus flash, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, AMOLED HVGA touch screen, 1500mAh battery, 8GB of internal memory, microSD and a 3.5mm audio port. According to the o2 forums it’s showing up as simply the “I7500” on the o2 systems and there’s pricing available too, so it should be turning up any day now.
The Galaxy runs the stock build of the Android GUI, so although there’s no HTC Sense GUI (like the Hero), it’s still well worth a look.
Thanks to ccsnet for spotting this little gem. Let us know if you’ve heard more. There’s also news of a “Galaxy Lite”, aka the Samsung i5700, which has just appeared from the shadows here. No image as yet, but there’s rumours that this could be another entry-level Android device (like the Click)
