This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Mototola Cliq – the first ever Android device from Moto. It’ll be launching on T-Mobile USA in the Autumn in titanium and “winter white” but you’ll have to hang on for prices. Click over to www.t-mobile.com/cliq to get your name down.
The phone comes with something called “MOTOBLUR” which you can see in action here. It’s a way to sync MySpace, Twitter, Facebook and “your entire social life, in a single screen”. The interface will pull contacts, profile pics and status updates from various social media sites. It’s all sorted and and filed away neatly with groupings and Google Maps integration to see where your friends are. Your Twitter, Facebook and MySpace messages arrive together with texts and emails in one simple place. There’s also the ability to capture and share photos to sites such as Facebook, Picasa, Photobucket and MySpace (hey, where’s FlickR?).
The Moto Cliq itself has, as you can see, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The screen is a 3.1″ HVGA screen and there’s a 5 megapixel auto-focus cam around the back. There’s 3G and WiFi connectivity with a 3.5mm audio port and 2 microSD card included.
The initial vibe is that the MOTOBLUR interface works very well and is very fluid. However, the interesting thing for us in Europe is that this handset is ALSO coming to here under the name “Mototola Dext”. It will be available on Orange here in the UK and France, and you’ll also be able to buy it on Telefonica in Spain and America Movil in Latin America.
