We reported a week back that i-mate had closed up shop and CEO Jim Morrison had left the country. Then, just recently, Jim popped up to state that “fraud” had caused the company to suspend operations for a while. Now, though, it’s emerged that the operation has been acquired by a company called “Hillfoot Limited” and they will continue to trade as “i-mate” in Australia, Taiwan, USA and here in the UK. Jim Morrison is stil at the helm.
Mobile Europe are reporting that yes, the Dubai operation has indeed closed down due to financial fraud. They will still be selling the new i-mate 810F and there’s other handsets in development with names such as the Hummer 2, Centurian, Centurian Touch and Legionnaire.
