We’ve added a video showing the Touch2 being unboxed. It’s a preview unit, but we’ve got WinMo 6.5 and TouchFLO on board and it’s looking all ready for the October 6th launch. We take a look around the handset, contents of the box and the all-new Windows Mobile 6.5 OS.
The device is small, thin and well equipped with a 528 Mhz CPU, zoom-bar, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, 3.5mm audio jack and 3.2 megapixel camera. The QVGA screen can make the screen feel a little cramped at times and, although the Windows Mobile 6.5 navigation system is better, there’s still throw-backs to 2002 with the old messaging, tasks and email interface. These are all Microsoft problems though and luckily there’s a stylus included if anything goes wrong and the TouchFLO GUI from HTC really helps to bring this handset alive. Sure, Windows Mobile 6.5 may have brought other improvements such as an “improved Internet Explorer experience”, but these have pretty much been binned with Opera chosen as the main browse instead. It’s obvious why, it’s so much better in every way.
We announced this video on Twitter this lunch-time, so if you want the inside scoop get following..
