UK network “3” have just announced that they will be carrying the HTC Hero too. It’ll be the first ever Android handset to launch on 3 and it’ll also come with Spotify Premium on-board. The phone, which costs £99 when bought with a 24-month £35 p/m plan, includes unlimited Spotify Premium, 750 minutes talk-time, unlimited texts, unlimited 3-to-3 calls, unlimited email, browsing and free Skype-to-Skype calls.
We tested the Hero on 3 as part of our review and it seemed to panic a bit when trying to “roam” over to Orange (the fall-back network for 3 when coverage isn’t available), but it’s fantastic to see 3 releasing a quality phone at last. The press release mentions the recent “Gadget of the Year” award and Executive Director, Jon French states that…
“The HTC Hero is about personalised communication and therefore has a natural synergy with Spotify and 3. The Android platform gives the consumer the option to tailor their Hero to their specific wants and needs. Whether it’s listening to the music they love or communicating with friends and family via a range of internet services, the Hero allows you the freedom to use your phone as you please.”
