Well, it’s that time of year again. A big HTC leak has just hit the web and it shows what appears to be the Q1 / Q2 Global Roadmap from T-Mobile. There’s a stack of goodies in here, including an Android handset with a numeric keypad (look Ma, a normal-looking phone!) and what appears to be a successor to the Hero. The Android devices are named Legend, Salsa, Bravo, Tide and Buzz, but there’s also some Windows Mobile 6.5 devices in there too – Tera, Trophy and Photon.
Android Handsets
The “Legend” handset looks fairly familiar with the HTC Sense interface, but has a slim metallic frame and a clickable optical mouse instead of the trackball. This should be landing in March. Get the specs here, which include WiFi, 5 megapixel cam, 3.2″ HVGA AMOLED screen and a 600Mhz CPU. The Register are carrying a story about the HTC Hero 2 – we’re guessing that this device could well be it. Just take a look at this shot as a comparison.
Next up, the “Salsa” is a Blackberry-esque Android which is painfully thin at 8.6mm. The social-networking elements are all there and the specs include an FM radio, WiFi, GPS and a 2.6″ QVGA touch-screen with a Qualcomm 528Mhz CPU.
The “Bravo” looks to be a real blockbuster, with the Qualcomm 8250 1Ghz processor we’ve seen in the Windows Mobile-powered HD2, a 3.7″ WVGA AMOLED screen and HD720p video capture. We’ve only got to glance in our inbox to see emails asking, “When will an Android powered HD2 be available?” – this could indeed be the device you’ve been waiting for. It’ll also have a 16Gb microSD in the box, a 1400mAh battery and that lovely HTC Sense interface. This looks set to arrive in April and should have the very latest build of Android. This one really is setting off alarm bells 🙂
The “Tide” has classic Smartphone styling and packs a numeric keyboard. Aimed squarely at the social / teen market it comes loaded with all the social networking clients and has IM capabilities. Specs include GPS, WiFi, a 2.68″ QVGA touch-screen, G-sensor, 3.5mm audio jack and a 528Mhz CPU.
The final Android device is called “Buzz”. The specs include WiFi, GPS, 5 megapixel camera with face-tagging, flash and auto-focus and a large 3.2″ screen. This will be arriving in May.
Windows Mobile Handsets
For Windows Mobile, the handsets include the “HTC Photon”. Powered by a 600Mhz chip this has a 3.2″ HVGA screen, 5 megapixel camera, GPS, 1300mAh battery, G-sensor and and FM radio along with a suite of business apps. Get more specs here.
The “Trophy” looks a little like the HTC Snap but brings styling points from the HD2. Apart from the obvious QWERTY keyboard up-front this also has a 5 megapixel camera, a massive battery capacity (1400mAh), GPS and yes – a touch screen.. it seems that non-touch phones are history. Other specs include Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, FM Radio, G-sensot, business apps and Windows Mobile 6.5 as the OS. It’ll arrive in May.
Last but not least, the “HTC Tera”. This looks like an updated version of the Touch Pro2 and the specs include WiFi, GPS, G-sentor, 3.5mm audio and a 3″ WQVGA touch-screen. This will land in April.
All in all, it looks like one VERY interesting year! What are your thoughts? Which phone tickles your fancy ?
