HTC Hero owners will probably know the story by now. The handset runs Android 1.5 under the pretty HTC Sense UI but, for many months, we’ve all waited patiently for the 2.1 update. It’s available in the USA for the Sprint Hero and if you’re in Taiwan you can get it too. Here in Europe we recently saw a “pre 2.1 update” to get the handset ready for the jump, but there’s still no sign of the actual official update itself.
Today is June 28th, and we’ve been told that the 2.1 update will arrive “towards the end of the month”. In theory this means that the update should be available either today, tomorrow or Wednesday. Like a World Cup win, we’ll have to wait a little longer, but don’t forget that even when it does arrive, you’ll still have to wait for the network branded devices to be updated.
