Last month we spotted a Samsung prototype running Windows Phone 7. Samsung are confirmed as hardware partners for the new OS alongside LG, HTC, Asus and Dell. However, after Motorola decided not to take part it’s a little worrying to see Samsung now stating that the new Windows Phone 7 Operating System only has “…some professional, specialized demand..”.
There is perhaps some confusion on the target market as the new Windows Phone OS is aimed squarely at consumers, not just the business / professional category. Speaking just a day after the OS was finished, YH Lee, Head of Marketing at Samsung Mobile, also stated..
“We are Prioritizing our Android platform. Android is very open and flexible, and there is a consumer demand for it.”
Only one Samsung handset is slated to run Windows Phone 7 currently. We’re assuming that Samsung are just being cautious as Windows Phone 7 has no sales figures currently.
