The latest version of Google’s Android OS – Gingerbread (or 2.3) – has been released.
As well as being available on the Nexus S, the OS is being released for the Nexus One as we speak, and the SDK is also available from Google.
The latter gives us a brief overview of the enhancements:
- UI refinement
- Improved text inputting
- Improved Copy & Paste
- Improved power management – you can actually see what is sucking all your battery
- Native VOIP and NFC support
- Improved graphic performance (in particular for gaming)
The question now is how long will it take before HTC and other manufacturers filter the update down to existing handset (and which won’t at all).
