It’s the end of day one here in Barcelona. It may not feel like day one and, for most, it’s not. We’ve already had the marriage of Nokia and Microsoft last Friday, the launch of the Xperia PLAY, the Galaxy S2 and LG devices to name just a few. Today also brought announcements from Microsoft and many other companies but, as you walk around the event, there’s one logo you can’t escape…
Android, and I’m really not exaggerating here, is everywhere. Almost every phone manufacturer here has an Android handset. Those that do make Windows Phone 7 devices have chosen to tuck the devices at the rear of the stands and, in the App Planet, there’s Android developer lectures, Android stickers, Android banners, Android posters and these Android figurines are everywhere.
We’ve already got some news on what is about to appear on day 2. Believe me, it’s pretty big. That pic above is a clue (from the HTC stand). Keep it tuned right here, we’ll have live tweets, updates, pictures and more.
Looking at all the new toys with a bit (!) of Somerset cider inside I find myself missing those bygone, simpler days of when you wanted a smartphone then you got the SPV – I’ve still got mine and it still works! Windows Mobile 2003!!! (…and it had a funky plug-in camera 😀 )
