Motorola XOOM – Up close

The Motorola XOOM tablet runs the all new version of Android which has been specifically designed for tablets, Android Honeycomb. It measures in at 10.1″ and has a 2 megapixel front and 5 megapixel HD rear facing camera with LED flash. You can play back recorded videos in HD or pipe them out of the HDMI connector. Powered by a Dual Core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU it has 1GB of RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory with a microSD card slot and a reported 10 hour battery life. WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G / 4G connectivity.

The device stands up against the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the specs sheets. It too has a Dual Core CPU, similar storage and the same OS. Sure, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a slightly better camera but both devices have a rather glorious 1280×800 resolution and the Xoom screen looked perfectly OK to us.

To be honest it´s proving hard to say anything bad about the tablets coming from the bigger manufacturers. Here´s a couple of quick videos from the stand. Scroll down for more pics.
