O2 are now offering a new ‘opt-in’ data bundle for roaming in the EU. For £1.50 you get 15MB a day to use which is capped, this is following on from the deals from Orange and Vodafone, and T-Mobile who have offered ‘roaming boosters’ for a little while now.
Below is the information taken from the O2 website..
New Web Daily Europe Service
- Web Daily Europe is £1.50 per day for up to 15MB per day on your mobile in Europe.
- Use data without worrying about the cost – we won’t charge you more than £1.50/day and you can use up to 15MB/day
- For 15MB you should be able to keep up with your friends on Facebook and send some emails on your mobile but it’s not enough to watch you-tube videos or download music.
- Some examples are:
- Send/receive around 15,000 emails without attachments OR 30 emails with attachments
- OR visit 150 made-for-mobile web pages or 45 Rich content sites (lots of pictures like BBC, Sky News etc.)
- To opt-in send DATA to 2020, ideally before you go.

I am interested in using this service. I am just not sure about all its details. If you opt in are u charged 1.50 a day even if u only use like 4 Mb a day. Or do they take a percentage of the 1.50 depending on how much you use?
I opted in and was charged £120. I was in Belgium for a day and only checked maps and emails a coupl of times. Currently disputing. In their online chat help dept. they said they would investigate as they could not see the bolt on. However I can see clearly when I log in and also have the text telling me not to worry I won’t get charged more than £1.50 a day.

It does look now like my bill has been resolved. No word from O2. Just gone altogether from my bill. Either they corrected it or I jumped the gun my checking my data use on return. They do say it can ale 12 hours to update. However they did manage to show what they thought I should owe them quick enough. Anyway seems like a happy resolution.
