Just in case you weren’t aware, Android is continuing to rise in popularity. Research from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech shows the sheer seismic shift in the market share for Android.
Android now has a 47.1% share of the smartphone market here in the UK, with BlackBerry some distance behind on 21.5% and Apple trailing on 20.8%. Windows Phone 7 seems to have achieved a 1.7% share and Windows Mobile 6.xx has 0.7% – a 2.4% total with the two combined.
Compared to the same period in 2010 these stats show that Android has pulled in an extra 24.2% market share whilst Symbian and Apple have both fallen.
The study also showed that 41% of the UK population now own what can be termed as a “smartphone”.
