Whilst looking at Push To Talk apps I stumbled across this real-time translation software. It’s fairly easy to setup and is completely free from the Android Market.
There’s two steps really. First, choose a source and “destination” language, then speak the phrase you’d like to say.
It’ll translate it into the chosen language for you, display the words and say them too. Pretty cool for nothing. I gave it a road test in the video below..
Is there an app that translates text by pointing the camera at it? Say point the camera at a menu in Spanish and it’ll appear on the screen in english?
Google Goggles does that mate (free). It’s not instant but it’ll let you shoot a picture and then translate the text. I know the sort of apps you want though.

Google Translate does the same thing as TouchTalk I think. Dont know how it compares in speed/functionality etc though…
