Gartner have released some figures showing worldwide smartphone sales by OS for Quarter 3 of 2011. They show that Android has gained a bigger share of the market compared to Quarter 3 2010. Once again the stato’s out there have gone mad analysing these figures. Apple’s iOS has still risen in it’s share and Android has just basically grabbed the loss from Symbian. The figures are below.
Not many people point out that Quarter 3 2011 had a lot of new and exciting Android devices and lots of iOS type people were patiently sat waiting for the release of the iPhone 4s. The other thing to consider is the huge amount of Android manufacturers around the world compared to just one iOS manufacturer.
