We’ve just had this comment from Samsung which confirms the successor to the rather wonderful Galaxy SII. We will, as usual, be reporting live from Mobile World Congress but it looks like we will have to wait a little longer for the SIII because its just not ready yet.
A separate event will be held in the “first half of the year” to launch the phone.
Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012.
The successor to the GALAXY S II smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.

So no news about the OS then. That’s a shame. They’re fawning over this as if it’s a God in the xda SII forum and I’d LOVE it to be a non-Android device, just to shut the little fanbois up.
Still, as long as it’s not iOS then it’s just a shiny toy, regardless.
