The LG Optimus 4X HD was announced just a short few days back so we figured it was worth a look. The 4X HD obviously lives up to its’ name with a quad-core 1.5GHz TEGRA 3 CPU and a 4.7″ “True HD” IPS display. Other goodies include GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, 16GB of on-board memory, an 8 megapixel camera around the back, a 1.3 megapixel shooter up front and 1GB of RAM.
Running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) this, like other devices using the Tegra 3, has the “companion core” which basically means that the 4 cores are only used during intense operations like high-quality gaming and multi-tasking. At other times, the companion core runs day-to-day operations to save battery life. Think of it like a turbo.
LG were keen to demo the DLNA functionality and beamed video and pictures to a TV screen across the WiFi. Sadly we left to fend for ourselves and did some quick one-handed filming. Notice the “watch strap” effect down the sides of this and the rear panel. Some love-it-or-hate-it touches for you to decide on 😉
Clove have just put this up for pre-order at £456 with the VAT. It’ll arrive in June.
