That’s right…the United Kingdom leads the way…..albeit this time in the use of mobile devices to visit News-based sites.
This is the outcome of a new report from comScore, the digital marketing intelligence company.
According to comScore, over 45% of UK Smartphone users have accessed a News site via their Smartphone in the last month, with France coming closest to the UK, weighing in with 36.6% of their users doing likewise.
“Today’s mobile consumer wants to be plugged into what’s happening around them every second of the day, and their smartphones are enabling them to do that. This rapidly changing trend brings with it significant incremental opportunity for news publishers to extend their audiences, but also the challenges of delivering their content effectively through the small screen.” – Hesham Al-Jehani – comScore Europe Product Manager for Mobile
Whilst the UK doesn’t have the largest growth in News access from Smartphones across Europe (that accolade goes to Spain), it does further represent the way in which the UK smartphone user wishes to consume their media. With the deployment of Smartphones with bigger screens and slightly differing form factors for different functionality (Galaxy Note for instance), we expect to see this number further increase over the 2012/13 period as more and more companies become aware of the significance of ensuring their content is readily accessible from mobile devices.
