As detailed in February and revealed at MWC, the Panasonic Eluga is now available in the UK.
Running with a 1GHZ dual core CPU, an 8 megapixel rear camera,Wi-Fi, NFC, and running Android 2.3 (soon to be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich) the phone has a 4.3″ display and is remarkably slim at only 7.8mm.
With 8gb storage, the Eluga’s 960 x 540px screen offers incredible detail and vivid colours, Panasonic claim that it has the largest display area ratio of any phone currently on the market and all within a remarkably light (103g) frame. The Eluga also qualifies for the IP57 certificate and therfore is completely dustproof and waterproof at depths of up to 1.5m for 30 minutes.
The European model with a UK charger is now available from Expansys for £354.99 with free shipping.
This is an interesting device, although long term support is questionable with some manufacturers coming and going from the mobile space frequently.
I am surprised they do not try to promote themselves to one of the major carriers in Europe, like Telefonica or Orange to rebrand the device as a carrier product, like HTC used to do.
The Orange branded phones I think have been quite successful on a budget level, a more top range device would be interesting to see. Then the carrier could promote, subsidise and sell more then just Panasonic doing it alone.
(or maybe Panasonic they already tried and failed to do this). On the Panasonic name alone it won’t do well.
its very nice ..!
