There are lots of file explorer. Hundreds of them, each one looks much like the other and each one functions much like the other. Then you have tablet file explorers which either fail to use the available screen space or they just touch upon what could be done.
Well in walks Antek Explorer which pretty much ticks all of the boxes for a decent file explorer. Can you explore your files? Yes. Can you explorer system files if you are rooted? Yes. Can you browse cloud storage? Yes. Can you browse network shares? Yes. Is there a nice pink theme for the app? Yes. Does the app work on my phone and my tablet? Yes.
So that’s the standard set of questions answered about the app. Lets have a look at some shots of the app in action.
As you can see here the app displays your info in three columns, the two right hand ones work independently of each other and the left hand column changes contextually. This setup is pretty useful as it lets you browse to a location on your sd card lets say and a backup folder on your device. You can then easily copy from one folder to another.
As you can see above if your tablet is rooted you can browse to the system folders and delete system apps as you please. The app will ask for Superuser access fairly early on if you are rooted. Again having the multi columns is useful for moving stuff from the sd card to the system folder.
The app has plenty of settings to play about with, you change download themes from the market, you can change the arrangement of the columns, you can change the view of each column i.e. list view, detail view or icon view.
You can set up your Cloud storage as well. Dropbox and Box are supported. There are also a few plugins available for Antek as well, such as PDF viewer, SMB share plugin, Cloud plugin and a FTP plugin.
The app also works on your phones as well, it is just not quite as versatile without the columns. But for file exploring on my tablets this is now my app of choice. Overall it is a great file explorer and on a tablet it really uses the large screen size well. Having Cloud storage support and Root support as well is great. Best of all is it is free. Head over to the link below and give it a go.
