So the phones in question are the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Samsung Galaxy S2. So quite a wide spectrum and not entirely fair, but hey if your in the market for a Motorola Motoluxe then at least you will be able to see exactly what it can do.
Yes I could have took hundreds of shots of different scenarios, these were just taking advantage of a sunny afternoon.
So the above shots are all fairly similar. The Lumia had the most realistic reproduction of the greens and blues. The Motoluxe wasn’t too far off though. Luckily on this shot the focus was not an issue.
So above I think all three did a good job of focusing on the Dandelion. The Galaxy S2 seems to have made the surrounding grass darker than the others. The Lumia seems the least accurate here.
Here the Motoluxe seems most accurate. The macro doing well at focusing. The Lumia seems to have decided to recreate the colour totally differently and the sgs2 seems to be too colourful.
So here I stuffed the phones up against a bright green plant and focused on the photos behind. All of them managed to focus on the right thing. The Motoluxe totally got the colour wrong. In this example I would say the sgs2 was the most accurate to real life colour.
Here is the same flower I just set each camera to macro mode and snapped a shot of up close. Again the Motoluxe did not green plants one bit. They all focused nicely and the sgs2 had the best colour reproduction.
So overall I feel that the Lumia and sgs2 as expected can take better photos, for the price the Motoluxe certainly takes good photos. Whether or not the target audience will play about with the different settings I don’t know. But I am impressed with it.
Once again thanks to Clove for sending us a Motoluxe out to test.
