Yesterday at the launch event for the Nokia Lumia 610 a Nokia spokesperson told the INQUIRER that the catch up service from the BBC would be coming “in weeks”. Again the fact that this info has come from Nokia suggests it will be a Lumia only app. Also the fact the spokeperson says:
“The app will tip up in the Windows Phone Marketplace within the next few weeks, enabling owners of Lumia handsets to catch up with Don’t Tell The Bride on the move”
The spokeperson also added that:
“Sky Go won’t be coming to Windows Phone for at least a good few months”
So personally I am pleased that things are still moving on with big name appsappearing on Windows Phone. Nokia did mention the other week that they are working with Microsoft and many big name developers to make this work. Hopefully at some point we will see apps for 4OD, ITV Player orĀ 5 on Demand.
TV catchup style apps have been one of the things people mention to me when asked “in your opinion what is missing from Windows Phone?”
So watch this space and we will let you know when the app appears. Hopefully it is not too long. Hopefully I will have a nice White Lumia 900 by then also.

Not coming to my Samsung Omnia 7 then? What a crock! Silly precedent to set; manufacturer specific apps, something as generic as the BBC iPlayer should be for ALL Windows Phones…
I guess it’s whoever has a dealing with the network or companies to have exclusivity apps with their own device. That’s how Nokia differentiate themselves wih other OEMs.
if it’s an official bbc app i doubt it’d be exclusive, not sure they’re allowed to team up with commercial companies like that. if nokia make this themselves i guess they might get away with it, but it’s pants!
