Paul from MoDaCo has managed to remove the back from the Orange San Diego (Santa Clara / London) and has found a microSD card slot. It follows a post from forum member “Huggyc” here. There’s a few caveats first though. The rear cover isn’t strictly removable, so if you do try and pop it off the rear then you have to be super careful. Secondly, the OS doesn’t seem to be doing anything when an SD card is inserted – this probably due to the fact that the OS isn’t expecting a microSD card. Although the slot is there it’s not used and isn’t meant to be accessible.
Paul is now spending his Royal weekend fiddling around under the hood to get root access, which should hopefully mean that the microSD storage can be mounted.
