Google have today confirmed the new Nexus tablet manufactured in conjunction with Asus.
Called Nexus 7 and running Android 4.1 Jellybean, the display is 1280×800 HD, a Tegra 3 Quad Core CPU and a 12 Core GPU, Front facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, with 9 hours video playback time and 300 hours standby time and weighs only 340g.
The device is designed around the Google Play experience.
The Nexus 7 is the first device to ship with Chrome as the standard browser and an updated version of Google Maps.
The Nexus 7 will be available in the UK, US, Canada and Australia and will retail at £159 for the 8GB version and £199 for the 16GB version. Pre-orders are now being taken on Google Play.
Looks nothing like a iPad so no need to worry about apple ….. Wink wink….
I’m seriously disappointed with the lack of MicroSD. Seriously Google, how much would have this cost to add in? We are talking pennies. Yet they add in NFC. Who the heck is going to go in a shop with a tablet and say “oh just wait whilst I whip out my tablet to pay for that bill”. I know NFC can be used for sharing and can send and receive basic information, but as Google says, only 1m Android phones have NFC. That’s 1 in every 400 sold.
I won’t personally miss Bluetooth as I hardly use it other to send files to other phones. I can see some people wanting to connect a Bluetooth headset to use this as a way of conference calling.
Will Jellybean run Flash?
this should have been out last year why has it taken so long for it…!!!! i will purchase one due to the price but wornt et much on a 8g with apps and movies….
Will Apple ban it? LOL
