Recently Samsung issued a software update for the Galaxy S3 in both the US and the UK that removed the “Universal Search” functionality on the handset. This was reported to have been in response to ongoing litigation with Apple involving this feature, despite the Galaxy S3 not being part of that case or it having any bearing on UK devices.
Samsung has now told Techradar that:
“The most recent software upgrade for the Galaxy S III in the UK included the inadvertent removal of the universal search function. Samsung will provide the correct software upgrade within the next few days.”
It seems strange that Samsung felt the need to disable this feature at all anyway, its even more strange that they are now saying it was an accident.
What’s your opinion? Genuine mistake on the part of Samsung? Or is this a case of furious back pedalling after negative press? Let us know what you think

My Sim-Free S3 just got an upgrade through Kies… Universal Search is back. Phone now has LG8 firmware
Looking at the amount of updates Samsung pushes worldwide, this really looks like an honoust to dog mistake.
