AllThingsD are reporting Google has finally issued a statement in response to the “AppSung” verdict. Fairly predictably, it attempts to distance Google, and the ‘core Android operating system’ from the infringements.
It will certainly be interesting to see what affect the rulings will have on future versions of Android, and in particular, certain Samsung phones.
Here’s the quote in full…
“The court of appeals will review both infringement and the validity of the patent claims. Most of these don’t relate to the core Android operating system, and several are being re-examined by the U.S. Patent Office. The mobile industry is moving fast and all players — including newcomers — are building upon ideas that have been around for decades. We work with our partners to give consumers innovative and affordable products, and we don’t want anything to limit that.”
It’s a fairly generic reply, but does go some way to reassure Android won’t be too affected by Apple’s victory.
