Last week Sony announced that they were releasing the replacement to the Tablet S – the Xperia Tablet S. Today the unit starts shipping to those who have pre-ordered it in the UK.
What they will be getting is the distinctive folded newspaper design and black and silver body that remain from the original, along with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. In fact, it seems that rather than a big upgrade, Sony have given the original Tablet S a shot of steroids and sent it on its way.
As an owner of a Tablet S I was eager to see this replacement, but was a little underwhelmed by the lack of innovation Sony seem to have put in to it. However, I’m reserving judgement until one has passed though Coolsmartphone towers.
The Xperia Tablet S comes in 16GB and 32GB wi-fi only variants priced at £329 and £379 respectively, with a 16GB 3G version due for release later in the year priced at £429.
