Samsung have finally announced a UK release date for their long awaited Galaxy Camera. The device, announced back in August at IFA, will be yours to buy from Thursday (8th November). For those who can’t wait that long, it’ll be available from 5pm on the 7th for Samsung brand store customers.
We’ve already covered the camera on the site and on our podcast. For those of you not in the know, it’s basically a 16mp compact camera with a Galaxy S3 built in. Although it can’t make voice calls, it has full WiFi and 4G capabilities and is perfect for sharing your proper snaps instantly to Instagram and Facebook.
In our own discussions, we remain sceptical about the device, being neither as compact as a phone, or as cheap as a normal high spec compact camera. Still, it’s definitely an intriguing product, and it will be interesting to see how it performs.

Plus photographs and videos can be edited and shared easily and spontaneously wherever you are. A 21x optical touch zoom lens and super-bright 16M BSI CMOS sensor means it’s possible to take high quality pictures with the Galaxy Camera and its ‘Smart Pro’ technology guarantees the end result is a professional-looking, stunning shot every time. The Galaxy Camera’s 16-Megapixel 1/2.3” BSI CMOS sensor makes sure that every image is captured in brilliant colour and resolution, and even wide-angle shots are possible thanks to the 23mm aperture lens. With the world’s largest and most vivid camera display – a 121.2mm HD Super Clear Touch Display – photographs are always crystal clear.
