Apple today has announced that they will now begin to sell the iPad with Retina in a new 128GB variant.

Apple Increases iPad with Retina Display to 128GB

The UK price and date was announced at exactly the same time.
They weren’t on the press release that come from Apple and if I had done a conversion (approx. £507) it would have been very wrong so I left it out… I have updated the article to show the UK pricing.

Most sites would have linked to the press release instead of ripping it entirely. Looks to me like you couldn’t come up with anything to pad out the post so filled it with the pr twaddle. Missed out the UK prices just to get it published as well.
£639 is a massive price to pay for a tablet, even if it has 128gig of memory. I guess if you are away for a long time then filling it up with movies and the like.
I think this is just a money making ploy, surely the whole point in iCloud was to do away with needing massive amounts of on-board memory? Saying that, £80 over the 64gig is not too bad of an upgrade price, considering it costs the same to go from 16 -> 32.
BUT….£240 to go from a 16gig device to a 128gig is (IMHO) just plain profiteering, considering you can get a 128gig SSD for ~£150.
iCloud isn’t really used for storage it’s used for syncing. It doesn’t work like Dropbox or GDrive where you can put whatever you like in it.
