As you will be well aware by now, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is going to be launched at the Samsung Unpacked event this evening – we’ll be covering it live here.
It appears, however, that we may not need to wait for the event to know what is in store for this evening – a series of videos have been put on YouTube showing off a couple of features of the new device. One of the videos demonstrates SmartPause, a feature where videos automatically pause if you are looking away from the screen. Another takes one of the cool features from the S Pen but introduces it without the pen – you can interact with certain onscreen objects without actually touching the screen.
There are also some videos showing off a re-engineered TouchWiz, which looks pretty responsive (as it should on an octa-core phone). Love it or hate it, TouchWiz is definitely here to stay – but one does wonder how stock would fare on a device with this much power.
The videos are below, so check them out and tell us what you think. You can see more of our S4 coverage here, and keep up with our liveblog here.
I think you meant to say “Pause if you are NOT looking at the screen”
Whoops, I missed that. Thanks.
Certainly looks an impressively fast phone, not sure a phone needs an octo-core cpu? Hovering over the screen might take some time to get used to, I do that as I read things before I click a link, don’t really want it clicking before I need it.
Video pausing when you look away is a pretty cool feature.
Dunno if I’m getting a bit ‘Meh’ towards all these bigger faster phones, they don’t really do that much new that you really need in a ‘phone’.
