The HTC First is a bit of a niche market device, yet the mid range spec will appeal to people on a budget. HTC have realised this and a smaller device has appeared online, it looks like a cross between the HTC One and the HTC First, which so far goes by the codename HTC M4.
Spec wise it is rumoured to be as follows.
- Snapdragon 400 MSM8930 1.2 Ghz Dual-Core
- Screen 4.3 inch 720p resolution
- Cameras: HTC UltraPixel/1.6M
- GPS/Glonass
- ROM 16GB
- RAM 1GB
- WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Android 4.2.2
- Sense 5.0
Most interestingly is the mention of a 1.6M UltraPixel camera, it will basically drill the role that the HTC One S has done for the last year. This is becoming a worrying trend for HTC, they announce to a great fanfare they are going to have “One” device or “One” range and lo and behold they continue to churn out devices. We just need to wait patiently for the First to come out over here and then for HTC to actually announce it.

That is a well specced little phone. The Ultra-Pixel camera could be a let down though at 1.6MP. The 4MP in the HTC One is getting pretty good if mixed reviews, going down to 1.6 is a bit far. The rest though is pretty much spot on, I’d like a card slot of they are only doing a 16meg version, or if it runs USB-OTG as well as the One then it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
