Today is a day to rejoice Android users, you can now make odd sounding music using your phone or tablet. Yay. Music Maker Jam has a pretty premise:
Music Maker Jam, the free new music maker app from MAGIX, makes it easy to start playing with music and mixing your own songs in no time. From the start screen chose a music style and begin mixing instrument loops to create your unique combination of sounds
After you have installed it you can add two or three free extra styles and you can buy more at a later date.
You then pick a style, starting by adding effects to an eight channel mixer. You can add drums, bass, random screams, sound effects and then you hit play. You can mix elements from different styles as well, there are literally thousands of different things to adjust tweak and tinker with. This app will keep you busy.
My creations are always a bit generic and a bit odd. But I’m sure in the hands of someone skilled it would be a powerful tool.
The UI is quite nice and intuitive and it’s also tablet optimised, so no stretched out buttons here.
The developers have a quick little demo video showing you how they’d imagine people will use this.

It’s a poor mans version of Garageband for iPad?
Nope. iPad is just overrated because of the fancy name.
