The Moves app for Android has seen an update which has seen the addition of user accounts and the ability to connect to other apps.
The accounts option will mean that data can be transferred between devices without being lost whilst the connected apps option means that data can be exported to other apps in order to produce graphs and further analysis.
Moves is certainly my favourite of the activity trackers that doesn’t depend on other hardware, the simplicity and accuracy are simply amazing.
With the ability to differentiate between walking, running, cycling and motorised transport, each move is plotted and logged using Google Maps. Places are recognised with data also drawn from Foursquare for recognition. All routes are displayed on an easy to read timeline.
One major issue with apps such as Moves is battery drain. The developers, Protgeo, work hard to minimise battery usage and for the most part have succeeded, the one exception perhaps being on the newly release Nexus 5 although I am assured that work is continuing to solve this issue.
Moves can be downloaded for free from Google Play
