Getting your kids on the internet is a double-edged sword. On one hand, you want them to use a tablet or phone like their friends do, but on the other hand you want them to be safe. Parental Access, which is free and available for Android, seeks to help with this predicament.
It’ll monitor everything your child does on the phone and will, according to the developers, prevent any bullying whilst online. The app logs incoming and outgoing calls and messages and you can see exactly where your child is and who they’re chatting to.
To be honest I wish this would go a little deeper. Tracking call logs and messages is one thing, but with the huge amount of chat apps (in Facebook, Whatsapp, Skype and Google Hangouts to name just a few), there’s other ways that threats can arrive.
That said, it’s free and protected with a passcode so you get to have a pretty decent overview of what your child is up to.
