Sony have been in the smartwatch game longer than most, developing their own version of Android as their OS of choice on their devices. Such as the LiveView and SmartWatch ranges.
With the announcement of Android Wear you might think they’d be perfectly placed to be an early adopter, but I’m afraid not.
According to the Head of Sony Mobile in the US they’ll be sticking with their existing platform for now. To be fair they have spent lots of time and money on their existing platform, so this isn’t perhaps such a surprise, but is it a disappointment? With Samsung switching to Tizen and Pebble showing another great alternative, will Android Wear actually get any traction, or will it be another short lived product for Google?
