Remember the fuss about a Nokia phone running Android? Is it still one of your deepest darkest desires? Well it looks like Microsoft are actually going to release another Android phone, again for emerging markets and again with a pretty basic spec. So no Android version of the Lumia 930. Sorry.
The launch is meant to towards the end of June with an Indian launch. The rumoured X2 will have a slightly higher spec and also a home button. Various complaints I’ve heard about the original Nokia X range were to do with an intuitive method to get to the home screen and also issues with lag. So it seems Microsoft/Nokia have aimed to fox these issues.
The Nokia X2 appeared on the benchmark service Antutu recently which gave away various details of the spec, the details were as follows.
- 4.3-inch WVGA (800×480 pixels) display
- 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor
- 1GB of RAM
- 4GB internal storage.
- 5MP Rear camera
- VGA front camera.
- Dedicated Home Button.
Personally I’m quite surprised to see details of a second generation of Nokia Android phones. I’m guessing that the R&D costs to date mean it would be financially unviable to totally scrap the project. It still intrigues me to see one of these in real life, maybe this time round I’ll get one.
