Microsoft has made no secret of the fact that, in the future, it is aiming for a unified OS, be it for phone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
Windows 9, or ‘Threshold’ as it is being referred to, is widely expected to be shown off to the world at a press event on 30 September. Fresh rumours now suggest that early next year a version of this update will be made available to those using devices with ARM processors; that means Windows Surface tablets and Windows Phones. Whether or not this will be the case is yet to be soon, but there seems no doubt that Microsoft are keen to combine their OS across devices, and it would certainly help to improve the app situation and sales figures for its phones.
