Hot on the heels of the latest 8″ tablet launch from Tesco, the Hudl 2 (initial impressions from James here), comes a brand new 4G own brand tablet from Vodafone.
The Vodafone SmartTab 4G is a device that is its name suggests comes 4G ready. It has an 8″ HD display, a 5MP camera and a 4100mAh battery and comes in a chassis that is only 7.99mm thick.
The killer feature here though is the price. £125 for a 4G pay as you go version. That is only £6 more than the Hudl2 which of course is missing the 4G connectivity.
Vodafone’s Connected Devices Portfolio manager Jason Smith says
The new Smart Tab 4G is the next evolution of the Smart Tab range, since the Smart Tab 4 launched we’ve focussed on improving our data speed technology, so now we can offer a device that’s faster, but at the same price as its predecessor.
As it’s the same low price as the Smart Tab 4, the Smart Tab 4G makes a great second tablet for the family, for students heading off to university, or for people going travelling. It offers experiences and technology you’d expect at a much higher price point.
No further information is currently available regarding processor, memory or software however the SmartTab 4G will be available from Vodafone on Pay monthly or Pay as you go as of tomorrow (15th October).
